At A & D Dental Practice Ltd we appreciate that visiting the dentist can be a daunting experience for children. That’s why our staff make every effort to ensure that a visit to our practice is a safe and inviting experience for our young patients. We have a children’s play area in our reception, as well as specialised child friendly dental treatments.
The Wand Unit
The Wand is a computer controlled, painless, anaesthetic injection system developed to replace the traditional syringe in dentistry. The Wand is so effective that you might not even know you’ve had an injection. With this improved technology the dentist is able to choose to numb just one tooth. There will be no numbness of the tongue, cheek or lip, allowing you to return to your normal routine quickly.
The Wand uses a small hand piece that looks like a pen, and supplies anaesthetic in a slow comfortable manner. It works at a low pressure, and a slow rate that gives an improved anaesthesia. This results in a more pleasant experience for your child.
Twinky Star is a coloured glitter alternative to the traditional amalgam or white filling, developed especially for children. By giving children different colours to choose from they feel more actively involved in their treatment. The filling is not only coloured, but safe and durable too. Twinky Star comes in 8 ‘glitter effect’ colours and offers a flouride release against secondary cavities.
